We Are Milwaukee – Blog 2, Written by Dumaine Reid (@RoarForever)
On Wednesday afternoon myself and my fellow board member @JadeHatchett32 were blessed with the opportunity to sit down and talk with @HRC_Crew. For those of you that didn’t know the High Rollers Club recently hosted their #SnappedWithThat fashion show, which was quite the success and buzz around Milwaukee. This meeting was very laid back, we shared memories of how our respective movements have grown over the years, I also gave them a breakdown of the production of our upcoming WeAreMilwaukee documentary. HRC is very excited and appreciative for this opportunity, I simply told them that “it’s time for the world to know our city is grinding.”
Kayla (@_KayRenee), Jasmine (@kissandMKEUP) and Mack (@SlickMizzo) are the core of HRC, based off the answers from the interview questions and stories we exchanged I could feel their passion for what they do. They really want the best for HRC, and want to make their CEO De’Mott proud. Entrepreneurship is a tough road, especially when you start young. Sacrifice becomes a big part of your life, and you have to learn how to stay in your lane. We all had a lot of things in common when it came to organizing events, people being apart of our teams and etc. It just goes to show that everybody goes to rough points in business. I don’t want to give too much away due to the fact that the questions I asked them were for the documentary. As for the rest of this film, it’s going to be great to bring so much of the city together. I’m looking to feature the following in this project, @DAH_Designs, @WordLifeCamp/DeepThinkers, @CopyWriteMag, @TheEuroClub, @FaShoDoeMusic, @YoungESociety, @FLYE_Radio, @BoardingPassMKE and possibly more.
As we continue the pre-production process, we are also constructing a soundtrack including Milwaukee hip hop artists, singers and poets. The plan for this whole campaign is to bring us together, and I pray everyday that this project does just that. Jade also has something up her sleeve, she wants to organize a 3 day weekend event for WeAreMilwaukee. Which is probably one of the best ideas ever, we are still figuring out exactly what the 3 day weekend will consist of but more details will be on the way.
We will be in touch will everyone who we would like to feature in this film as March approaches, as of now we don’t have a set date for the release of the film but what I can say is that there will be a premiere event for everyone to come check it out when it is complete. We don’t want to rush this, filming a documentary is a delicate process, especially when it’s about our city. Also, be on the lookout for the High Rollers Club auction, they will be auctioning off pieces from the fashion show and much more. There’s so much more that we discussed in the meeting on Wednesday but what fun would it be to tell everything? It’s just best to tell you stay tuned for more progression and follow @Mission10Eleven for updates regarding the #WeAreMilwaukee documentary.
